Tired of d20 yet?

barsoomcore, is this true, or are you just kidding? If it is not true, then I my question still stands: Why was the question asked? And why was it loaded?
No, that's not true.

The question was asked because Driddle was tired of D&D or d20, or he observed others who were, and so asked if anyone else was. Nothing sinister there, like you seem to imply.

It was only loaded because too many people don't distringuish between d20 and D&D. I suspect is was "loaded" on accident.

It's not nearly as bad here as at rpg.net, though, where if I suggest d20 for a genre that someone wants to run (and is looking for a system) I get all kinds of complaints about "the D&D magic system is all wrong" or what-have-you, which is completely nonsensical given the many magic systems in d20. Like I said, too many people don't understand, or care to understand, the difference between d20 and D&D.

Nope.

I enjoy numerous game systems (Warhammer on Fridays), but enjoy D&D even more now that I've got more of the rules under the old belt.

Funny how you think he didn't imply anything sinister, yet you think I did. Perhaps he was just asking an honest question. Perhaps I was too. Can I get the same benefit of the doubt? Or should his post be given the hairy eyeball too?

I asked so suspicion of intent/accident could be cleared. But note that Driddle hasn't bothered answering or responding to his own question. He just sort of dropped it out here without explanation.

Interesting question for me...
Am I tired of D&D? No, I have a great DM with a brilliant imagination.
Am I tired of D20? I have never liked it to be honest. This could be due to my favorite game of all time being Earthdawn. Exploding dice and all are pretty damned cool if you ask me. I also liked its progression of dice combinations.

No. Not tired of it at the moment. I have burned out several times on 3e over the last few years, but I doubt I will ever switch to a non-d20 system. Much more likely that I drop out of the hobby than find a better game than d20.

Oh lord yes I'm sick of D&D. The kick-in-the-door, kill, loot mindset kills the fun of the game for me, and I'm tired of upteen zillion sentient races in a world, as well as twenty subspecies of elves, and the D&D stereotypes in general (demihumans, rigid class distinctions, assumed magic levels and system, etc).

D20 is still ok, but I am getting a little tired of it. I have been running what I would call a D20 dark fantasy/horror game for four years now (carried over from 2E) with quite a few house rules, and while I still enjoy running the game for the plots, ideas, and characters, I am tired of many of the assumptions and core requisites of D20 (feats, linear increase of skills, BAB vs AC/defense problems, hit points, etc). Its also a LOT of work to properly prep a suitable challenge in D20 without winging or half-assing it, especially with the characters approaching 13th level.

I've found that my group has been going more towards other games and systems of late. In particular, they have developed a strong love of classic Deadlands, which has a great world as well as incredibly cool mechanics. The new edition of WFRP has also blown my socks off, and I'm really excited about running or playing it sometime soon- moreso than I have about any RPG in the past- its that good. We still play CoC BRP and Kult every once in a while, and one guy runs D6 Star Wars occasionally (which I suffer through- never liked the D6 system and he follows the Star Wars canon VERY closely). I'd like to try the new WOD at some point, but oddly enough I'm having a hard time finding anyone who is really wanting to play/run that right now.

Well, yeah. Do you go to all the questions on the forum and ask, "why did you ask that?" Does anyone?

Of course not. The question is pretty much only asked when there's an implication of, "you shouldn't ask that," for whatever reason.

Suspicion? What do you suspect him of? It is a crime to be tired of d20 or D&D? Or to be imprecise on differentiating d20 from D&D?

Other than the rather confusing wording, I think the question is certainly valid. It's an interesting discussion. I wouldn't have thought that very many people would be tired of d20 or D&D, given the core audience of this forum, so I'm surprised to see more people than I expected who say they're tired of D&Disms. The thread opened my eyes a bit.
