Tired of your unread threads resetting?

A bunch of folks have complained that the unread thread icons reset when they pause to write a long post. I figured we could fix that; as a result I have tripled the reset time from 15 minutes of inactivity to 45 minutes. I hope that's a help! If it needs further fine tuning, please tell us.

Just trying to make the site better, piece by little piece.

YAYYY! Thank you, you writer/pirate/moderator/cat thing!

And EN World takes one step closer to perfection.

Man, this was one of my biggest problems. While reading at the office some fool would come in wanting to talk about work or some other nonsense, or a client would call and expect me to stop reading/posting just to do my job.

It's even worse at home, where some kid will expect me to perform first aid or assist in the bathroom (I am the Royal Butt Wiper to my noble sons, you know).

I can hardly believe that it was 15 minutes of inactivity, as it happens to me so often. I would have guessed 5 or maybe 10 at the most. Dang, I'm inactive more than I realize.

Thanks, PC.

woo-freakin-hoo! i'll echo joe's statements 100%.

no more "better hurry up and open all the threads you want to see while you still can" or "make sure to hit refresh every 20 seconds to stay logged in" ;)

now if we can only get them to talk about OD&D exclusively perfection would be reached. :D

Is there a setting I have to choose to make it active? When I came to the home page, it said I last visited yesterday evening. I opened a couple of external links (in new windows) and came back and entered the forums, where it said I had last visited today at 7:15 PM. I looked down and my system clock read 7:17 PM. Any idea what gives?

I thought it might be a time zone thing, but the post shows I posted it at 7:26. And, of course, all threads are marked as read, even as I'm reading about this wonderful new feature which says they won't be...

Hrmmm. It should be automatic. Anyone else having trouble with this? It's cookie related, so it might be worth deleting your EN World cookie and seeing if that does the trick.
