Today Is Invasion! *9/21/05* NSCR

Truth Seeker

Adventurer
*Whew!*

Created by former child star and current mega-producer Shaun Cassidy, "Invasion" tells the story of a small town in Florida and the strange events that transpire after a hurricane hits the area. I know, I know -- it may not be the right time for a show about a hurricane's aftermath, but give it a chance. Park ranger Russell Varon (Eddie Cibrian, "Third Watch") is skeptical when his daughter Rose (Ariel Gade) insists she saw lights floating toward the ocean during the storm. But after his ex-wife (Kari Matchett) is found naked in the water the morning after, he unknowingly begins a fight for the survival of his family, his town and ultimately all mankind.

Showing at 10:00 p.m. EST, on ABC TV. Tonight.

OK, that was very cool. I liked it a great deal. Some things mentioned below:

It seems very much like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The aliens invade a person, inhabit them.. or maybe devour and replace them? Dunno. The sheriff might be some sort of advance scout? Anyway, that was kind of chilling: 'The first few days are the hardest'.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good....

Whether or not it turns out to be a good series, I think, will depend on how original the aliens are. If they are just a re-tread of the SF movie monster aliens that take people over like that, it might have a short life (Body Snatchers, Invaders from Mars, etc).

Or will it be like Starman? Or The Hidden? Both feature aliens taking over people but they weren't so obviously sinister

Or is it something different altogether...maybe it's the little girl that's the alien. (Since she was missing for a while, too)

*sigh* Once again, NSCR means No Spoilers Caps Required. ;) This is for those who don't know.
I had never heard that acronym before.

I quite liked the show, myself. Between Invasion, Surface and Threshold, which are all similar in many respects, I think Invasion may be my favorite so far. Of course with only one espisode each, that may not mean much yet, though...

I liked the hints of sinisterness about it, frankly. The idea that you don't know what's going on, you don't know who you can trust; the main park ranger guy is already obviously suspicious of his exwife and her new husband.

The only thing disappointing to me is that there's no way I can sustain watching five new shows this season, yet there isn't one that's an obvious cut yet. None of these shows is shaping up to be Point Pleasant yet.

That's not a common usage (at least around here). And it's hardly impolite to use spoiler tags in the only obvious thread on the subject in the forum.

And dangit! What with a whole bunch of annoying crud happening yesterday, I forgot to set the Tivo to record this! And they aren't replaying it! Shards!

Nope....

I heard the NSCR acronym explained by Truth Seeker previously, but couldn't remember what it stood for, that you had to use spoiler code of that you didn't have to.

Maybe "*Spoilers*" would be more clear.
