Today's CB Patch

does anybody know if the patch today contains the PHB3 information or if we will have to wait for next month's patch to get it? I assume it's in today's patch, but just curious.

While I don't have any "real" answer, my assumption is that PHB3 stuff will NOT be in today's patch because the book hasn't even been released yet (PHB3 release date is March 16).

Yes, you'll get some of the recent PHB3 preview content that has already been put out there, but you won't get the entire stock of PHB3 stuff that hasn't been previewed yet.

Anyway, that's all just an assumption as someone who does not follow CB releases very closely at all. Someone with more experience on the CB and patch schedule may have a more informed perspective.

My assumption that it will be released today is 2 fold. First, middle of last year i remember reading that WotC was going to do more with the CB as far as released information to entice people to get a DDi subscription. They've done this with several preview classes/races as well as rolling out articles several times a week instead of doing it once a month. this also leads me to think they won't wait until 2+ weeks after the release of a major book to get it into the CB.

2nd, the Book is already finished, published and likely siting in the warehouse ready to be shipped out late this week, early next week. Therefore, everything is completely finalized from an informational standpoint.

Granted, it's still more work to code it into the CB and i understand that. But again, based on the first two points, i'm thinking/hoping that it will be released today and we won't have to wait 2 weeks to get it into the CB. Hoping and praying is more like it as we're starting a new LFR campaign at the end of this month and we were all hoping it would be ready by that point.

I don't think there is any precedent for CB prerelease material, so I'd guess no.

So, unless there's something different when you open up CB, "No. No new PHB3 material has been added to the Character Builder."

In a sense, it's the other way around. In order to entice people to actually buy the books instead of using CB/MB/Compendium for digital-only gaming, there's a lag time. If you want the latest and greatest as soon as possible, you've got to buy the dead-tree edition.

Did notice something cool though. On the character sheet where there is the card with basic combat stats there is now also a card that lists all your skills, including which are trained.

Also, if there's something special you can do with your action point - all paragon paths give that to you - it's now printed on your action point card.


BUT... all divine characters of 2nd level and higher lose their automatic channel divinity powers: that's a big bug and really annoying.
