[ToM] Fundamentals

Evil DM

First Post
Hi folks,

sorry to ask this question but the following description is not totally clear to me:

In the Tome of Magic is written for the fundamentals of a shadowcaster:

These powers [..] function as supernatural abilites usable three times per day.

So - does this mean every fundamental is usable three times per day? Or all the fundamentals are as a whole usable together three times per day?

Thanks for that quick answer!

Just another question which arose in my mind:

In the section about weapon and armor prof. is written that the shadowcaster ist not proficient with any armor or shield.
So far so good.

Now I mix up the Shadowcaster with the spellthief (complete adventurer) which allows the character to cast spells in light armor without arcane spell failure chance.

But what disturbs me is the last sentence of the shadowcasters armor and weapon prof. section:

Armor of any type interferes with your gestures, which can cause your mysteries to fail when they function as spells

Is this just flavor text why the Shadowcaster is not proficient with any armor right from the start?
Overwrites this quality the ability of the spellthief to cast in light armor without any penalty?

I am a little bit confused.

A spellthief / whatever can cast spellthief spells in Light armor. Same as a Bard / whatever, or a Cleric / whatever. :)

So you are screwed on this one. But then, taking Shadowcaster levels, you were screwed before... :(

Sorry, but my english ist not that good to understand what you mean with screwed in this context - even as I looked it up in the dictionary.

You mean that I can cast spellthief spells without any problems in light armor but when I cast as a shadowcaster it will fail?

So the class feature of the spellthief does not extend to other classes if being multiclassed?

That is what you mean with screwed? Something like being fixed?

Here's the best-fitting translation from LEO: 'mit etw. böse auf die Nase fallen.'

Exactly!

So it tells the description of the spellthief (under Weapon and Armor Proficiency):
A multiclass spellthief still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes, including those stolen from other arcane casters.

I underlined a part, ´cause this is often forgotten (in groups I play in).

Damn it!

And this happens to me who so often tells his people: C'mon folks - so many questions could be skipped if you'd just read the rules to an end and don't stop half the way...

I am ashamed.

But thank you :)
