Tomb-Tainted Soul and negative energy.

Joker

First Post
I'm working out a half-orc necromancer that will take the Tomb-tainted soul feat from Libris Mortis. In effect the feat allows you to be healed by negative energy and harmed by positive energy "as if you were an undead creature."

Does this mean that the character will be healed by all negative energy, i.e. a lich's touch or chill touch? Or only by inflict spells.

If he is healed by everything that does negative energy damage do you know of any other spells or abilities that deal neg. energy damage. I'm drawing a complete blank and can only come up with the aforementioned three sources.

On a related note concerning Heart of Stone form Complete Arcane. It states that "any attempt to heal the creature with a conjuration (healing) spell require a caster level check to succeed." This means that in conjunction with the Tomb Tainted Soul feat I can be healed normally without a caster level check with Inflict Spells, right?

Thanks in advance.

"...as if you where an undead creature"
The touch of a lich doesn't heal undead so it doesn't heal you, it's only for inflict spells and abilities where it's specifically writen.
I would say:Yes for Heart of Stone question.

The reason why I thought a lich's touch did heal undead is because of the entry under the undead condition states that "negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures." And the lich's touch attack deals negative energy damage.
I don't know if they mean that inflict spells are the only thing that heal them and they wrote that to remind a reader of that or that the inflict spell example is just an example of one of the things that heal them.

That was a horrible sentence.

Anyone else have any ideas. I'm using the necromancer variant from UA and have a skeletal minion but no cleric to heal the little bugger. So does anyone know of any other things that heal him?

It's only a rule of thumb, but probably every spell which deal negative energy DAMAGE will instead heal your character. Those which bestow penalties or other things but not hit points damage will not heal you.

So despite enervation being negative energy I still get d4 levels drained if I shoot myself.

On the flip side, that would mean that everything that does positive energy "damage" deals damage to me.

Energy drain & Enervation give undead temporary hit points, but don't heal them, so that's what I think you should get as well.

? I think that if a spell does positive energy DAMAGE, you still get the same damage, unless the spell mentions something like doing double damage vs undead, but not as a general rule.

Libris Mortis is very liberal in the application of negative energy for healing undead-ish creatures. If you are using that book, I would consult the DM as to how he intends to run it.
