Tome of Battle Question

My players and I were looking through this book, and one of them has decided to try out the swordsage. Each of the 9 styles has a favored weapon list associated with them, does that mean you have to use those weapons to use the style. I do not know if that is just a suggestion or a hard rule.

If this is the case, does someone know what page that is mentioned, I want to know so I can show my player that rule so she knows which weapon she should be using.

You don't need to use a path's weapon to use a strike/stance from that path. A lot of the time they don't even provide any extra benefits. But there are certain feats or class abilities which require you to use the appropriate weapon to gain a benefit.

Oh, and the easiest place to find the associated weapons is in the Martial Study feat. They're also listed under the descriptions for each path, in the chapter which describes maneuvers in general. (The chapter before the lists of maneuvers.)
