Tome of Battle - spells for fighters? How does that work?

I'm good with surpassing Bruce Lee by level 10 and Li Mu Bai by 15.

edit: and I mean 'movie reality' Bruce Lee. Enter the Dragon or Game of Death Bruce Lee.

The actor himself I'd probably top out at 5.

To say it again: The 4e fighter will probably be the lovechild of 3e's Fighter and Warblade. The manoeuvres they'll get will be like the stuff available to warblades. That excludes all the mystical stuff like desert wind or shadow hand. The most unbelievable stuf will be things like one attack at +100 damage or two full attacks in one round (and I suspect that they'll get rid of iterative attacks, so that manoeuvre will be out as well)

Sad if true.

I would prefer to at least have the option, so I'm holding out hope.

The mystical stuff was never available to the warblade anyways.

So don't worry too much about it. It was popular, and will probably show up somewhere.

To be fair, I'm not sure "ease" would be the word I'd use. :) Bo9S has a certain amount of extra fiddliness compared to the core melee classes... You know how it's common wisdom that spellcasters aren't good classes for newbies? I'd definitely extend that to Bo9S classes.
I dunno; there's a lot less concern over "spell level", with the martial adept maneuvers. Your martial adept class level does determine the level of maneuver you can learn, but when you're readying and using your maneuvers, their specific level doesn't matter. Plus, since you don't have to rest for eight hours to regain expended maneuvers, they're a hell of a lot more forgiving. A newb can experiment without screwing himself out of necessary resources.

Yeah, at least at low levels, the Warblade is so amazingly powerful I keep re-reading the rules, thinking that I must have misinterpreted something. Supposedly, things even out at higher levels, but I haven't gotten to test that.

I think they'll include it in a "Gish"-way: If you're arcane/divine level of that-and-that, and have that-and-that martial level, you gain access to that-and-that maneouvres.

Or they allow it with special feats, that "unlock" the more mystical disciplines.

But that's probably stuff for a splat...

Cheers, LT.

Look at the bright side: if they don't turn D&D into Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, people won't actually be justified in saying it's like anime.

Even there it wouldn't be anime, it would be wuxia :p :p

(yeah, I know that for many people that's not truely different, but hey, I'm a purist :D )

Warblades don't have that option in 3e. It doesn't fit fighters, because fighters are said to be martial - meaning mundane characters that don't use magic. If you want something mystical, you're better off with whatever will have killed the swordsage and taken his stuff. Probably the monk/martial artist or whatever they'll call it.

Well... y'know, Martial Study likes to disagree with you...
