Tome of Magic - mysteries

null

First Post
Sorry, I originally post one question in general discussion. Kindly excuse my noob-ness.

I have a few (hopefully) quick questions regarding mysteries used by Shadow Casters in Tome of Magic.

Blackfire: How tall are the flames? I use three feet because I haven't seen anything else.

Curtain of Shadows: 10 ft. square is a strange unit of measure since the wall deals d6/caster level damage. Is that per five foot square or just per round in the wall no matter how many squares you traverse?

Flood of Shadow: There is a note to "see below" next to spell resistance but I don't see a corresponding note. Ok to disregard?

Black fire:
Black fire burns only a few feet tall, so a creature can avoid the effect of the mystery by jumping or flying over the area.
two or three feet would be appropriate, I think.

Curtain of Shadows: Walls are measured in height and width. you typically place any wall either on the dividing line between two squares, or right through the middle of a square.
You can typically move through a wall by moving from a square on one side of the wall, through the square containing the wall OR through the wall between the squares, to a square on the other side of the wall.
If someone chooses to traverse the wall along it's length, it would take the damage for every 5 ft spent inside the wall.

Flood of Shadow: No idea.

Herzog, thanks for the replies. For some reason I thought the curtain was actually filling 10x10 squares - the way you describe it is clearer though - thanks.

For Blackfire, the description specifies "a few" so that ruled out two feet for me, so I guess I'll leave it at three.

Thanks again.
