Too much non-lethal damage

I seem to recall a rule that when you received more non-lethal damage than you total hit points, you began to receive lethal damage. But I can´t find that rule.

Is this right or am I just pulling this out from thin air?

That rule is not in the books. It's not an uncommon mistake.

There is a similar rule in the DMG that is only used when taking non-lethal damage from the environment (after awhile heat exhaustion or frostbite does real damage).

This is not a D&D rule.

You may have misheard someone mentioning the rule from Shadowrun, where stun damage (nonlethal) suffered beyond your threshold starts to accumulate as physical damage (lethal).
