Top 5 RPGs--Summer 2011

Seems success isn't necessarily related with the quality of the rules but the demand of the fans :(

(I'm still sometimes perplexed by the Paizo love, but they do a great marketing. Congratulations!)

Paizo gets the love it does because they seem to want to listen to their fans. They may not always AGREE with what their fans have to say but they do listen. Also Paizo gets love because some of us (I'm guessing at this point ENOUGH OF US) didnt want to play 4E as our FRPG of choice and were afraid our pool of 3x players would dry up. This would have forced us to find another game (probably less supported game) or caused some of use (like me) to leave the hobby altogether.

Paizo helped to change all of that.

They put out a great product (it's not all just marketing. SMH...) and just because you dont care for the rules doesn't mean that the quality of the rules are bad. That's a defense that 4E players have been making for years I think...

Hmm, since Borders closed I have not been seeing local conditions to compare, my previous observations did agree with PFRPG outselling 4e, but I am glad that a BaM has opened, so I can set a local benchmark again.

The FLGS is a bit too idiosyncratic to give a reasonable baseline.

Now, off to play Pathfinder! I get to be one of the victims players this time. :)
