Enid is fine, Its Oklahoma City, hit with tornados twice in two days and Thunderstorms today and Stroud, nearly wiped off the map by the May 3rd storm a few years ago, that took the hits.

BTW, today's forcast; Clear blue skies and 75 degrees here.

Has anyone here read Bruce Sterling's Heavy Weather ? A bunch of cyberpunk storm-chasers in an American midwest that has been torn apart by storms caused by the downward spiral of the environment? Hearing all these stories I can't help but think of that book.

The idea of an F6 tornado on the Fujitsa Scale doesn't seem so far-fetched, anymore. A mile wide... shudder...

Stay safe, everyone.

We lived in OK for about 18 yrs and had to go through a few really scary moments. Still have family down there now. We'll keep you all in mind as we prsy for you.

I much prefer getting snowed in now.

Me and Mine live in the near-legendary community of Dodge City, in southwestern Kansas... not too far away. All the weather missed us this time around... but I'm a radio announcer, so you know we'll be thinkin' of ya. My best to You and Yours... stay kewl, stay safe.

The May 3rd tornado was one wicked-nasty straight from Oz tornado. I did search and rescue for 12 hours. When the sun came up the next morning, it looked like......well, I was gonna say like nothing I have seen before or since but the past few years seem filled with events like that. :(

I too live in OKC and the scariest moment was hearing that a Tornado may have been about 2 blocks SW of my house heading NE right at the moment the lights went out.

It never hit. I'm still not sure if there wasn't one, or if it just went up into the clouds for a bit and came back down later.

I saw my first funnel cloud here in Ann Arbor last weekend from the storms that went through Michigan last Monday. There was a tornado warning at the time, but we were not in the storm's path. It didn't touch ground, but it was a majestic, and dangerous thing to witness.

I grew up in SE Kansas and tornadoes were quite frequent. On one occasion, I saw seven at the same time on the horizon. As I have kin in Oklahoma, I hope everyone is well.

Greg

I grew up in SEK as well! I graduated h.s. in Coffeyville and went to P.S.U. for college... Small world!

The tornado that hit Lawrence last week was scary for us, it was about 2 miles away when it lifted back into the clouds... Not as scary as folks in OKC and Moore, but when the weatherman went to his 'safe place' and since we were between him and the tornado, we went to ours too!
