My favorite character is Toph... sadly she's not gonna be in the movie.

This is why I'm not seeing it. So it is confirmed...no Toph. I can't believe they are leaving out one of the coolest and most unique characters in the series. Most of the other characters are stock, but Toph stood out. Pretty lame. But M. Night hasn't been making good decisions lately as far as movies go.

I hope you're right. The little blind girl that can tear it up was one of the coolest character concepts in the cartoon.

Was Toph in Book One at all? I'm pretty sure it wasn't until Book Two she showed up. It looks like they are following Book One rather strongly for the first movie.

It would be a mistake, IMO, to have Toph appear out of sync with when she appeared in the animated series. If Toph is first introduced in Book Two, she need to appear in the second movie.

If you like Toph and want to see it, the first thing to do is help The Last Airbender earn the right to a sequel. Not seeing it won't help get Toph on-screen.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Assuming they're planning 1 movie for each book, whether or not they have ideas of how they want all three to go [even if in very vague ways for the second two movies, maybe], they're still going to scrap the second two movies if the first movie bombs.
