[Trailer] King Arthur

Trying to look Post-Roman, but not really making it (the armour is far too early for that),

FWIW it doesn't even look like real Lorica Segmentata. It appears as if they just scrounged up the left-over pieces from the Gladiator set. :p

Besides it just wouldn't be right if the post-Roman Britons were wearing Lorica Hamata when facing Celts! hehehe (Or are they supposed to be picts? hmm)

The public laps up everything Bruckenheimer does anyway...
Ah, the public.

Poor, benighted masses. When will they learn that it is we, the self-appointed cognoscenti, who are the true arbiters of taste and quality?

I can't really give an opinion on the trailer at this point. Mostly because I'm still buzzing from RotK. I will see this film in the theater for certain but I'll have to wait until the LotR high wears off first.

Looks interesting, but it is likely to be Hollywood history. Which is both a shame and likely the only thing you'll get out of Hollywood. For the exact history seldom makes for a good movie. But when it does, it really resonates. History as backdrop to fiction can also be done well, like Titanic.

Buh?

We're talking about King Arthur here, not the Battle of Hastings. We have next to no information - so far as I know - on the "historical King Arthur". So... expecting it to be real history would be unfair. :)

I should add, though, that of course there's something of a tradition (in the past few decades) of linking King Arthur with a historical figure in the post-Roman period. I think the film's look is pretty cool. Guinevere (that's Keira Knightly playing her, I think! :)) seems to be some sort of Pict...

...aye, and Merlin some sort of Pict/Druid/Shaman. As much as I liked Merlin from Excalibur, I think this will be a neat portrayal of him.
