I like what I saw. They have changed a lot and I'm glad we are not getting exactly the same thing.

I just wish they didn't call it "The Karate Kid", because then it will be associated with the real 80s movies of The Karate Kid. Plus, the fact that he is taught Kung Fu and not Karate, the title makes no sense.

The title makes perfect sense because they are redoing the 1980's film. The title is for marketing and for that it works great.

Yes it makes sense from a marketing pov, but it's still utterly stupid and insulting to the followers of the martial arts. It's like making a remake of Hamlet, named Hamlet, without having the title character named Hamlet. For all sense and purpose why not rename this movie "The Kung-Fu Kid?"

Just remember that to the general US public, Kung-Fu is Karate. And almost any other eastern martial art is Karate thus it Kung-Fu.

Here all for the unenlightened Joe Q. Public.

Maybe that was true thirty years ago before the mix martial arts became popular culture or before the internet was created.

Nope, Kung-Fu was a show about a monk in the wild west, a dog named Hong Kong Phooey, and a song where everyone was fighting. :D ;)

With kicks fast as lightning!

But seriously, there is so much coverage of different martial arts in films, championships and sports events that people these days know that Kung Fu, Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Savate, Tae Kwon Do, Krav Maga, etc, are different things.
