[Trailer] Total Recall

Wow, that must have taken a lot of time. I hope you are well after scouring the vast digital libraries to locate this obscure piece of information.

It's good to have people like Hand of Evil who have the unique training and ability to use the Google or the Youtube to find what you're looking for :p. Great One forbid you spend the time you used requesting a youtube link to actually search for it yourself. To think of the horrors you would face on your journey is frightening.

Yes I'm lazy, because I only cared enough about the topic to click a link, not google for a movie I ain't likely to watch. And yes, Krug was just being helpful.

To about 50% of the EnWorld population who has QuickTime installed.

Had he linked the YouTube, that would have helped 80% of the population who has Flash or whatever tainted plugin YouTube uses these days

that is actually the point. If your going to post a link, you're trying to shortcut the process of getting to the content for others. Otherwise, Krug could have just started a thread that said "there's remake of Total Recall, y'all should totally go google up the link for yourselves to see the trailer!"

If you're going to do something to be helpful, be helpful by being effective. Otherwise, you've wasted your time.

I'm sure Krug cruises the Apple trailer site, which is why he always posts apple links. I was merely commenting that this source is only about 40% effective.

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the "Official" trailers for many movies are released at Apple Trailers and that many/most of the Youtube versions of those trailers are breaking DMCA in some fashion since they are uploaded essentially illegally.

I'm not looking to start a conversation on that particular topic. Just noting that, at least from my understanding, the Apple Trailers site has the official, completely legal releases and Youtube, for the most part, does not.

Anyhizzle, I hope John Cho gets more than 5 lines and a death scene. I like the guy.
BTW, I had already seen it from a YouTube link prior to even seeing this thread, but was instead recommending to any one else that may post movie trailers that a YouTube link is recommended over iTunes since a lot of people don't want to install quicktime or do a full download to view it.

What's the point of posting a trailer link if a bunch of people are going to go Google or YouTube search to find it elsewhere?

My main thought is this - are they going to plant clever things in the opening scenes which may play out later, as in the original - or are they just going to lead us by the nose through the plot?

FWIW, that particular trailer was posted to YouTube by a user named SonyPictures, so I think that one's good.

Also, I've seen lots of trailers posted by the film company. Anecdotally, it seems that many studios provide both options for their trailers. Which makes sense since trailers are just advertising and you want as many people as possible to see the advertisement.

Still, if there's a YouTube link, that would be best.

Why? Some people abhor Flash and can't see YouTube embeds and others don't have YouTube accounts at all because they think YouTube is the sum total reason why the human race should be wiped out.

Or should there be a rule that whoever starts a movie thread like this link to every conceivable movie format for the benefit of all?

So why no Mars? even the source material focussed on Mars

and will the remake retain the hooker with three breast?

You don't need a Youtube account. And if you abhor flash, I am not sure why you'd be more happy with Quicktime, which is just another proprietary format.

The biggest problem with Youtube for me is that the ongoing court case between GEMA and Youtube/Google in Germany.

OK, I am torn not a big fan of Farrell but it looks like it might be fun, and as Hand said--CAT FIGHT...also Brian Cranston is in it, grrrrr I will prolly pay homage to him and pay for a movie ticket.

This.

I don't have the numbers, but I imagine that far more people can view a YouTube video than a Quicktime movie (or maybe even HTML5, though I don't know how many have the most recent browsers).

Except for iDevice users who, whether they want to or not, can't watch flash video. Oh, wait, there's a YouTube app for that. :)
