[QUOTE="Starman, post: 1768981, member: 7663"] You dive and roll through a shower of crossbow bolts, some of which you feel brushing your skin and sticking into the deck beneath you. You try to tumble [Tumble roll= 12+11= 23, DC=25, AoO provoked]by one the pirates, but you are not quick enough and he stabs at you. Fortunately, you slip out of the way of his blade and come up on your feet behind him. The pirate has dark skin and hair. You would guess that his clothes were of fine quality at one time, but they aren't anymore. His wool tunic and pants are colored scarlet trimmed in gold and black. It is frayed and worn in several places. Tattered silk outlines the ends of his sleeves and collar. Around his arm is a white band decorated with a skull imposed on an upside down blacksmith's hammer. He snarls and begins to spin to face you when you both see a gray cloak swirl up. It is Davik on the other side of the pirate. He has his half spear out and has a look of grim resignation on his face. From what you know of him, you guess that he thought that fighting was behind him and he was looking forward to a quiet retirement. The pirate grins suddenly. "It takes two of you to beat me, does it? You aren't half as good as you look, and unfortunately for you, I'm twice as good as I look." You lean back and snap your whip at his blade in an attempt to disarm him [AoO provoked]. He slices at you barely missing your torso. [Attack roll (you)= 8(roll)+5(BAB)+2(flanking)+2(whip bonus)= 17 vs. Attack roll (him)= 1] Easily grabbing his sword, you jerk it away from him. It lands about fifteen feet away. His confident front seems to wilt. He looks about wildly, weighing his options and then makes a break for his sword [AoO provoked]. You snap your whip at him [Attack roll= 11+5= 16] and easily hit him, however his leather armor stops your blow from doing any damage. Davik stabs at the pirate and blood begins to stain his breeches. The pirate grabs his sword and comes up, smiling once more. "You've had your fun; now play time is over. Prepare to be defeated by Bruthin the Bold!" He assumes a defensive posture and awaits your move. If you decide to gain the deck of the Iron Hammer, there are two ways to do so. Your first option is to climb the knotted rope, that "Bruthin the Bold" came down. The DC= 5. The faster and more heroic way is to run, swing on one of the dangling ropes to gain enough height to wrap your whip around some part of the Hammer, and swing yourself up. That would require an Attack roll against AC 5 to get your whip in place and then a Tumble check against DC 25. Doing it that way will net you a temporary action point to be used anytime this scene.
