Transformers 3

I'll go out on a limb and say either "That's illogical" or "Live long and prosper".

<--- still haven't seen the movie.

The line in question is:
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.

When he said that line in the movie, a few people in the audience groaned, but I have a feeling that most didn't get it. My wife told me to "get a life" when I complained about it, which was probably the best advice. :)

why the Decepticons needed the space bridge to bring the other 200 Decepticons in, when it's clear Transformers can travel in space, and also what the hell all those guys buried on the Moon have been doing for the previous two films?

Well this bugged me about the film then I thought
they didn't need the space bridge to travel to earth, but they were there to protect the space bridge, perhaps only becoming active when the pillars sent a signal?
it worked for me anyway!!

Overall i enjoyed this movie, there were a few plot holes and some pretty average acting, but I watched it and it made me feel like a kid watching the cartoon again, so I guess that's job done!
I'm not sure who did the writing, but it seemed like they had more background knowledge of the TF universe than whoever did the previous 2 movies.
Also it was finally cool to see Optimus finally kick some ass, i've been waiting too many years to see that!
I hope its not the last TF movie we see :)

Awful, awful movie.

My biggest complaints about the first film were that there was way too much focus on the human characters, and the camera moved so fast and so constantly I couldn't actually make out what was happening. (Plot and acting sucked, of course.)

For all its faults, the second film was much better, because at least the Transformers were there right from the start, and I was actually able to follow the action. (Plot and acting still sucked, of course.)

In the third film... well, I think one of the characters said it best, "What a cluster..."

Back to there being way too much focus on the human characters, with the Autobots seemingly showing up only when there was a need to pull a last-minute rescue. Back to the effects being incomprehensible. (And the plot and acting sucked. Worse still, although Megan Fox is vastly overrated, the replacement was just dire.)

What did I enjoy? Well, I did actually like Sentinel's Nimoy-sellout line. That's about it.

The funny thing is, the person who wrote this one clearly had some grounding in both the Transformers cartoons and the comic book, drawing on elements of both for his plot. I would have liked that... except that that meant just about everything in the film had been done before, better.

I was disappointed by the first two films, but this one... I actually left the cinema feeling sick.

I'm a big Transformers fan, from the comics and G1 cartoon and movie. Put Optimus, Shockwave or Cliffjumper in a movie and I'm predisposed to like it.

And this one sucked. They could've got it so right, and yet seemed to take every left turn available to get it so wrong. Starscream began acting like Starscream, Shockwave was the alien juggernaut he should be, but on the other hand Soundwave devolved so much he was nigh-unrecognizable. Like in the previous two movies, the writers and director seemed to forget where the robots were supposed to be. The big pay-off scenes were casually tossed aside.

1 out of 5.

I went with my wife tonight for "date night", and we both enjoyed it. Was it Oscar caliber? Nah. Was it a fun action flick, on the level of other summer action flicks? Sure.

I think I liked it better than the 2nd, and as much as the 1st. There were finally consequences. To see the Decipticons vaporizing people and such was pretty intense. There's one point they blasted this guy, his flesh rips apart in a splatter, and his splintered skull comes rolling out of the cloud of spatter. For a "kid's movie" that's rather intense.

I didn't miss Megan Fox.
