And the biggest (literally) question: What role, if any, will Unicron play in this? What influence might he have over his "offspring" (Galvatron, Scourge, Cyclonus, any surviving Sweeps, and possibly Tarantulas and the Tripredacus Council)?

I'm not sure how much of a role the "Legacy of Unicron" will play in what I write. Galvatron and Cyclonus are dead and gone. Scourge will likely be around somewhere, but he may or may not be aligned to a faction. More likely, he will be fallen (thus, crazy).

Most of the Sweeps have been swept away. Those that have survived are constantly hunted by the Seekers. I could see them acting as mercenaries or bounty hunters. There could be cells of Sweeps trying to bring back the glories of Unicron. There could be Sweeps living as outcasts amongst the Junkions or as slaves of the Quintessons.

It's all up in the air right now. I'm still doing research.

Thanks for pointing those out. I'm trying to find specific entries on the Transformers Wiki. It has all of those; although, it only has "Plasma Energy."

I'm using this page as my primary starting point.

Concerning the Powermasters, the Marvel Comic series showed that the process would lead to a fusion of Transformer and Partner. Optimus and HiQ were going through a metamorphosis of some kind before Op was killed, and the Last Autobot then reformatted HiQ into a New Op Prime.

Something similar could have taken place with Headmasters, and perhaps Targetmasters(to a lesser extent)...

Although it will depend on which pieces of lore you want to include.

My vote would go to either Elita-1 (Elita Prime has a nice ring to it) or Grimlock (not sure what his "Prime" name would be, though).

Elita Prime is a good name. However, I'm not sure I could do the character justice. (Plus, the Elita-1 character is considered an alternate version of Blackarachnia, which means I might delete her from the list. I'm a huge Blackarachnia fan.) Regardless, it's something to consider.

I don't think Grimlock could be the Prime leader of the Autobots. He's got honor, but he's really rough around the edges. Plus, he's not much of a problem-solver.

I really like Blaster as a leader, and I've been toying with the idea of Wheelie as the next Prime. Optimus started from humble origins, so why not the next Prime.

The Elita-1/Blackarachnia connection is exclusive to the TF: Animated continuity so I wouldn't feel obligated to use it.

I can't see Blaster or Wheelie as Primes but that may just be bias from their potrayals in the original cartoon.
