Edit: I browsed the FR wiki a bit and looks like I was mistaken. When it comes to the navy the FR seems to be quite backward. I mean according to the Waterdeep article their most powerful ships are dromonds (galleys).
There isn't much on ships in there (or I haven't found it), but the other nations don't look that advanced either. I remember reading somewhere that Thay has a good navy. Does anyone know what kind of ships they have?
Edit2: It seems that some nations (Amn) do have medieval era ships like Carracks and the already mentioned Cog. So this would probably the best bet to have troop transports with decent capacity and range.
