Trap of Soul
8th-level abjuration
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (A gem with 1000gp cost per Hit Die)
Duration: Until dispelled
You create a magical restraint to hold a creature that
you can touch. The target must succeed on
a Wisdom saving throw or be bound by the spell; if it
succeeds, it is immune to this spell if you cast it again.
On a failed save, the target's soul is magically
trapped inside one of the gem. While affected by this spell, the creature doesn't need to breathe, eat, or drink, and it doesn’t age. Divination spells can locate or perceive the target, but only work when they are up to 120 feets of the target.
Ending the Spell.
After 72 hours with the soul trapped magically in the gem, the target can make a new Wisdom saving throw with disadvantage. On a successful save, the spell ends and the target takes 14d8+40 necrotic damage. On a failed save, the spell not ends.
A dispel magic spell can end the spell only if it is cast
as a 8th-level spell, targeting the gem.
You can use a particular special gem component to create
only one prison at a time. If you cast the spell again
using the same gem component, the target of the first casting
is immediately freed from its binding.
