One of my campaign has Planeshift Drive.
Objects and creatures aboard a vessel are first encased in a white light that protects each and every individual and ship component. As the ship Planeshifts, the object disappear and then reappear, piece by piece, at their new location. This means that when the drive is activated, the engineer's arm my be around Alpha Centauri while his nose is still in orbit around the Earth. Craft personnel and passengers must stay very still before and for a few minutes after transporting. Interupting the Planeshift can be extremely unpleasant.
