Re: T20 Cover Art

Can we get back to Dave Mattingly's cheesy un-Traveller cover art? Who do I have to kill to get this thing off the cover of my most highly anticipated D20 purchase?

That would be me ;)

Here's an idea: How about a limited edition version of T20 with the classic Black-with-Red-Stripe artwork for us old school Travellers?

Not likely to happen. To much chance of confusion with GURPS Traveller and its cover.

Sooner or later, there comes a time to say "screw it." I am more concerned about getting the book into print in a reasonable time frame than going through a dozen cover iterations, none of which will make everyone happy.
I think almost everyone save for the publisher is in agreement over what they do want on the cover...

All it would really take is for the publisher to listen.

I'm not looking forward to it. To me, D20 is about cinematic over-the-top action and glory. Traveller is a lot more gearheady than D20

In what way? T20 has complete rules for designing vehicles, starships, and worlds. Same 'gearheadyness' as any version of Traveller. Using the d20 system doesn't prevent that.

Um how do you figure that?

Easy, I'm on your side. :)

I started this thread 5 days ago and so far there are over 70 replies. In the same period on the Traveller messageboards, I doubt if there has been more than 10 posts a day. Ok, so that's not counting the posts on the playtest boards, but I don't have access to them.

I really wish the Traveller boards had more discussions going on at the present. Its really surprising to me that the TML has more talk going on than the messageboards. Mailing lists are a poor way to communicate IMO.

Heh ok didn't realize you meant just the non-playtest forums. Like many boards, traffic comes in spurts. Someone will post a hot topic and there is a flurry of posting and then it will die off a bit until the next hot topic gets posted.

BTW, I count 60+ posts in the open (non-playtest) T20 forum alone from March 15 through today. ;)

Yup the TML has a lot of traffic, but easily 50% (or more) of it is off-topic and not related to Traveller. You also have to remember the TML has been in existance for many years. It is the granddaddy of em all when it comes to Traveller.

I agree with you on email lists, I prefer message boards myself. I get too much email as it is without adding mailing lists to it!

I think once T20 releases we'll see a fairly significant increase on the non-playtest forums. Of course you are all welcome to stop by the Citizens of the Imperium forums and get em rolling better!

I wish RPGRealms had done more with Judges Guild.

So do we. Unfortunately that situation has not worked out as we had hoped. Suffice it to say it has been more trouble than it was worth. We may release a few more items from the JG line, but most of our focus is on T20.

Will you guys be updating any of the Traveller stuff from JG to T20? I used to have a couple of them long ago and I seem to remember that they were much, much better than the majority of the stuff that they made for D&D.
