Traveller: Where to Start

One thing about this research that is blowing me away is the amount of material available for T20 -- both commercially and fan-created. I mean, I've been reading EnWorld since it was just a 3e rumor site with a different name, and I had no idea that T20 had built up any kind of following at all, much less a following as large as what I'm finding on the internet. I had honestly assumed the game was a flop -- only 3 reviews here.

IMHO T20, like all versions of Traveller, will never die. Traveller itself has survived numerous incarnations and several companies. It is the Demi-Lich of SFRPGs.

Hey Psion...

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought they had included the class in the main book.

Can you tell me which supplement the psionic class is in? I think we had it in the playtest material, but I don't remember. It'll be interesting to compare the two.

IIRC its in the playtest files. Check the link that I posted above for another rule set for T20 psionics.

What ever its kinks, it has a strong following even though no new commerical material is being produced for T20. I think another hard back converting it to D20 Modern like Darwin's World did, needs to be done, but I think that will never happen.

In place of that I think more .pdf books for T20 need to come out but QLI is run by one guy who is AWOL again. For more than a year after Hurriance Katrina he had family issues to deal with and didnt contact any of the writers etc and now he's gone back into 'hiding'

FWIW I found the adventures by FASA back in the 80's were some of the best adventures I've ever used. The Sky Raiders trilogy was an epic campaign for us, and nomads of the world ocean was excellent; even ordeal by eshaar and uragyadn(sp?) of the seven pillars were pretty good.

I've not seen any more recent stuff to comment though.

Cheers

I found this t20 wiki in my searching: incomplete and somewhat buggy, but not a bad glimpse at the T20 skills, feats, and classes: http://t20.org.uk

Many of the T20 skill-enhancing feats look like they could use a little bit of a boost compared to 3.5 or d20 Modern feats. I might be tempted to play with that. A few T20 feats might be worth importing into a d20 Modern game; probably several d20 Future feats would work well in T20.
