treasured OOP gaming book

G'day

Every now and again a gaming book comes along that does something better than it has ever been done before. After a while, the publishers stop supporting it. The copies on your shelves get tatty. You search second-hand shops and stalls. You look for copies on eBay. You light candles to St Jude Thaddeus….

I take great care my copies of DragonQuest (2nd edition), James Bond 007 (best game design EVAH!!!), and Bushido. But the game book I use at nearly every game is ForeSight (1st edition), and that's been out of print since 1987. Thank St Jude for really strong bindings, eh?

What is your treasured out-of-print workhorse? What do you crave to see re-printed?

Regards,

Planescape boxed set. I'd love to see this remade, but how to do it while giving enough information to actually do adventures in the planes is a problem. The core rule Planescape material was all about Sigil!

Thieves Box set from 81. It has the whole city of Sanctuary, all the NPCs stated out in like a half dozen different systems, random encounters for each of the different sections of the city, a true masterpiece in RPG city design. :D

My old Dungeon Magazines. Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog. The Forgotten Realms Atlas. These are a few things that have not gone to the basement for storage.

How many of you remember the old Mystara setting books? I loved those things back in the day. I played with mine and as a result they fell apart in short order.

I had the whole set up til the shadow elves but they disintrigrated and some got water damaged. While trying to get replacements on e-bay the prices are out of this world expensive. I mean the price they they are asking for these books is crazy but I guess people pay that for them. Man I would love to have them again. If nothing else just for old times sake.

Ghostbuster RPG
Fantastic Treasures
Fantastic Treasure II

Magical Medieval Socities is on my list of books that I hope never deteriorates.
