First, for the record, I loved all three movies. Thought they were great fun. Looking forward to the rumored fourth.

Now, having seen the first two episodes of the series...

I have to say, meh.

It's not awful by any means (assuming you want something in the same vein as the movies). But it's nowhere near good. It's going firmly on my "If I'm home on Fridays with nothing else to do, I'll watch it, but I'll make no effort to record it" list.

And yes, it's a monster of the week show. They established that in the second episode. (BTW, was it just me, or did the second episode seem really choppy? I mean, a few major plot points--such as they were--were introduced in dialog as though they'd been discussed before, but hadn't been. Bad editing, maybe?)

All in all, it's not nearly as good as the movies were. Kinda fun and mindless, but that's the best I can say for it. Those of you who are planning to avoid it--well, honestly, you're not missing much, though you may want to give it a try some Friday when you're bored.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that the second episode aired wasn't the second episode produced; everything about that episode was SCREAMING that Christopher Lloyd's character and "mixmaster" had already been introduced. My guess: in whatever episode was being shown in the promo clips of Lloyd freaking out about a "monster."

Take heart that Sci-Fi is funding really good stuff recently - Children of Dune and Riverworld being two (and from what I hear the new Battlestar Galactic will rock!)

I hadn't thought of that, but it makes perfect sense. You may well be right.

I was watching it and the following exchange happened. I'm not making this up.

my brother: This show sucks. Its so predictable.
my dad: I bet that guy is going to trip and fall. Then his faceplate is going to crack.
(five seconds later the guys trips and cracks his suit)

During the end of the second hour I was thinking: "This show had to have been written by gamers. No one but RPG players could come up with a plan like that. Duct tape? Why don't the characters just leave the town? If I was playing in Tremors the RPG I would tell the GM I want to play Forgotten Realms."

Well i loved movie 1, thought 2 was lame and 3 was tolerable.

I expected something along the level of 3 from the series and that is exactly what i got. light camp with some over the top characters.

I must say, if they lose burt, i probably wont watch anymore. Everyone else seems to be his setup men and women.

With mixmaster, they have sowed the seeds for the monster of the week, as well as the basic hidden lab "dont you hate it when burt is right?" angles.

I am not expecting SG-1, Bab5 or even fronakly Farscape level drama here... this is a light fluffy popcorn of a camp series... good for unwinding and chuckling but not gonns provoke much in the way of artistic excellence or anything that serious.

I love a good steak or canneloni.
I also like candy bars.

So far, TremorstS looks like a tasty candy bar.

BURT IS AN AGENT OF EVIL.
Think about in the second episode the shop vac is working but just starting to burn out. What does Burt do he keeps over reving the engine.
Stupid plot pts not carry thru
In first episode the worm is near and they run around unplugging stuff but don't do at any other time.
Hello how about one two or three main switches which kill all the circuits in the shop.
Burt notices bike traps around his hole. The new defense does not work. No mention of him fixing it.
Hmm Burt notices the reflection early in the first episode. Does he check in out? No he waits to the last 3 minutes when the worm is trying to eat every one and fires blindly at the reflection. Just happens that he kills the silver box.

Hello Burt does not kill the slime ball developer? Or stake him out?

Hmm looks like it is getting worse.
