Tremorsense vs Ghost Step

Even though the rules explicitly state that you cannot take an AOO against an opponent with full concealment, doesn't this seem odd when you consider AOOs for moving through a threatened square of a creature with tremorsense - which can automatically detect what square a creature is in?

And a question about Tremorsense, can it detect a creature standing still? The quote in the first post makes mention about the creature having to be moving, but I believe that only applies in the situation where 'no straight path exists through the ground' to the creature being sensed?

No, because you don't know the shape or size of the thing you are swinging at. Are you swining at a gnome or at an 8' gnoll?

I would guess that is where the 50% miss chance comes into play :)

I preferred the 3E rule (or, rather, absence of a rule) - there was no prohibition on AoOs against creatures you couldn't see.

"An AoO has been provoked. Do you wish to take it?"
"Oh! Ah... okay."
"Pick a square."

Whoops - second post, actually.

The first response and the second post are the same message.

Like "first runner-up" and "second place" refer to the same standing in a competition.

FWIW, I am very glad that this thread came up! All of these rules clarifications will make a *very* significant difference in the playability of my Ninja/Cleric (the "Holy Ninja", if you will). When I first built the character, I was skeptical about the weaknesses of Sudden Strike versus Sneak Attack, but the Ghost Step abilities even it out nicely. I do not find Ninjas overpowered, but very balanced against the Rogue with some stylistic differences. I like the class- even if Eric Mona does not! :)
