Trouble logging into chat room...

I tried both the irc and java chat rooms, but they automatically disconect me:

"Connecting...
Logging in...
-- *** Your nick must not contain more that 2 non-alphanumeric characters.
Disconnected from irc.psionics.net "

any thoughts?

Were you using a nick which contained more than 2 non-alphanumeric characters?

Most spam bots that connect to psionics.net have two more more non-alphanumeric characters (/|[{! would be some examples) in their nickname. Since pretty much no one uses more than one of those characters in their nickname, we /kill them on connect. It's cut down on the amount of spam users receive and allowed us to turn back on some features that had been disabled.

I just got the same message, and my nick certainly has no non-alphanumeric characters in it.

the message of:
" Your nick must not contain more that 2 non-alphanumeric characters. " is received by all users on connect.

In fact now it has been updated to read: "Your nick must not contain more that 2 non-alphanumeric characters. We have changed the Adminstration channel to #MyndWorks"

Only users that actually have 2 non-alphanumeric character's will be forced off the server AFTER they connect. If you received a specific message after you connected please let us know what it was.

Yesterday I managed to log without problems (after being automatically disconnected all day long), so I guess whatever was changed did the trick...

With the new client thing I can't get in:

Sometimes I get that without the Error : Your part.

What OS?

If you are using a java chat, which one? What is the URL in other words. What nick do you connect with and where are you connecting from?

I'm using the java client (the new one that the old link goes to) which is at http://www.psionics.net/chat/java/dnd3e.html. I connect with the nick CS, and I'm connecting from the global lan at the Univ MO Columbia. I'm on windows XP.
