The second trailer makes me a little more hopeful.

I will be interested in the "take" on the Trojans -- will this be Trojan-War-a-la-the-Iliad or Trojan-War-a-la-the-Aeneid?

According to imdb.com, Ajax is being played by Tyler Mane, aka Daryl Karolat, a wrestler who played Sabertooth in the X-Men movie.

I can deal with that. He definitely looks the part and getting into character as Ajax shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

As an aside, whenever I see that name I automatically think of Cary Kolat. Cary would tear Karolat a new one!

I'm somewhat torn.

O'Toole as Priam, Bloom as Paris, Bana as Hector, Bean as Odyseeus all work for me.

And while the film looks to have been well done, the more I actually see of Brad Pitt the less confident I become.

I would also have preferred a more "classically" beautiful Helen.

But - I'm already starting to nitpick. There should not be any flaming balls flying in the sky... there were no seige weapons of any sort at the time, hence the use of the Trojan Horse to finally get into the city...

AFAIK, Thetis does show up on the list of characters for the movie, but with none of the other deities mentioned, perhaps she'll be transformed into a human being for this story.
