Tru Calling

"Tru Calling Returns

Fox will bring back the remaining six new episodes of its canceled supernatural series Tru Calling with a two-hour episode on March 31, after which it will air in the 9 p.m. ET/PT Thursday timeslot of the soon-to-be pulled Point Pleasant, the Zap2it Web site reported. Tru Calling was pre-empted earlier this year to make way for North Shore and then Point Pleasant, both of which fared poorly enough in the ratings to warrant being pulled from Fox's schedule. It's unclear whether Point Pleasant will return after that.

The remaining new episodes of Tru Calling will feature star Eliza Dushku as Tru Davies, who can relive a 24-hour period when called upon to save a recently deceased person."

For some reason, Fox gives shows about six weeks and then kills them dead. Very strange. I wonder what might have been had Fox had that attitude about The Simpsons or Married With Children?

Cool, thanks Crothian.

Yeah, FOX is the king of non-commitance. Talk about ratings paranoia. I hear Arrested Development is living on borrowed time. That show is brilliant.

They did with X-Files.

You know the show that went like 8 seasons, had a spin off series and a movie with another in the works...and is prettu much referenced with ANY and every show that has been made since it came out...

Fox is full of ********...

Well, The Simpsons and Married With Children got fairly good ratings early on. That's why they survived. (The Simpsons was a spin off of the moderately succesful Tracey Ullman show)

The X-files was something of an exception. Why, I dunno. (Though now I look, the premiere of the X-files had a rating of 7.9, while Tru Calling was a 4.1)

Still, it's really part of a vicious cycle. People are probably afraid to watch Fox shows, because chances are very good it will get cancelled after one year or even mid season.

I think Fox just doesn't want to do season two of DVDs...

Anyhow as much as FOX takes heat I think I've had a show I liked early on canned on every network. (ABC has been bad also)

Anyhow, back on subject, Crothian, thanks for the heads up! Tru Calling was one of the shows I rather enjoyed. :)

The wife and I enjoyed Tru Calling. It wasn't at the top of our heap, but we watched it consistantly. I've got mixed emotions about this follow-up, though. On the one hand, I get to see a bit more of a decent show. On the other hand, it's a bit of a tease because most of the cast has probably moved on.

The other thing that cracks me up is that I'd decided to drop Point Pleasant because it was too soapish, but my wife flipped it on the next week because I was out and about. Turns out that it stopped being nearly so soapish and we actually started liking it. Just in time for it to get cancelled.

Well, I'm in.
I actually gave in and bought the DVD's even. :heh:

I'm a long-time Eliza Dushku fan (I even saw "Wrong Turn"!!), and I thought Season 1 was good "popcorn entertainment." Were there plot holes? Sure. Were the scripts often trite and predictable? Sure.

But there was always the potential for more. And, IIRC, Jane Epsenson (who did some of my favorite BtVS eps, including "Superstar") is involved in the second season, so I'll stick around for all 6 episodes, see how it goes.

Point Pleasant cancelled? Oh well, at least Tru Calling is coming back.

you know it is canceled to. They are just going to air the 6 episodes they had filmed and it will not end in any full filling way.
