Well, I can only say I enjoyed this episode, too. Jason and whats-his-name were really funny.

I was surprised
that LaFayette and Tara got unter Marry-Annes control again.
I wonder if with his findings, Bill decides to
sacrifice Sam
.

My theory is that Bill is going to use Sam as bait to get Maryann to lower her guard and allow herself to be killed.

Agreed.

Once again, Jason stole the show. His speculations about Sam were priceless, and I loved the shout out to World War Z.

It wasn't the best episode ever, but it was fun.

That is interesting, I was thinking it was related to his advanced age. It left me wondering what kind of crazy powers Godric might have had being twice Eric's age.

Has the show been close to the books so far?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Tara was always Sookie's best friend, but had very little face time in the books. She owns a dress shop and stays out of Sookie's adventures. As far as characters, she's the least like the tv version.

Jason never tried V, but is otherwise true to his character.

In the first season, the storyline of someone killing vamp lovers was fairly accurate.

In the second season, the Dallas storyline was accurate, except that Jason was never there.

The part with Maryanne was an extremely minor plotline. They gave her an offering and she left.

I felt that the books made Eric less likable than the TV show does.

Once I let go of the differences and watched the show on it's own merit, I started liking it a lot more.

I didn't think Eric was particularly likeable at least not before the scene on the roof with Godric. That scene made him more sympathetic IMO.

In the show, it's fun to hate Eric. The books are written in the first person (Sookie's point of view), and the hatred of Eric isn't something to wink at, it's real.
