True Seeing Conundrum

AoW SPOILERS

I am currently DMing Age of Worms and one of my players has a Robe of the Eyes which grants Ture Seeing. The PC's are in Alhaster and will be going to a dinner banquet at where one of the guests is not who they seem. Lashonna, appears to be an elf but in reality is much, much more. Unfortunately, she kind of becomes a patron for the PC's and will interact with them on a semi-regular basis getting them to do things she wants them to do. How in the world, without hosing the PC with the Robe, do I keep her true form hidden from the PC's?

Help!!!!!!

Why try? Let them know her true nature, and adjust the game to suit.

Well....the campaign is based on the fact that the PC's follow her bidding for the time being. In fact, without some major restructuring, this NPC leads them to their next adventure or two. By changing it, it will spoil a surprise or two later on and require much more work on my part. If I have no options then that is the plan I will go with but I wouild like to avoid massive restructuring.

The other reason I want make it work is the fact that the PC shouldn't have the Robe of Eyes to begin with. In a recent adventure, the author created a demon called an Occular Demon who has eyes all over his body. One of my players mentioned that this must be where the Robe of Eyes comes from and so I rewarded the PC by giving him a reduced cost for the item because he skinned the demon and it was a cool idea. At the time I didn't consider the future ramifications. So while I don't want to hose the PC, I want to somehow limit the effect via a reasonable solution (or other magic item) in this one situation as I truly feel this will have the best affect at the end of the compaign.

Maybe a permanent higher level version of non-detection that foils true seeing? Or a magic item that does the same?

So as not to be accused of being capricious and arbitrary, you should at least write up the spell.

Thanks,
Rich

I appreciate the idea but I would like to work with something that currently exists in the game and in particular a feat/spell/ability that exists in the MM, DMG or PHB. To me, creating something has a "hosing the PC" feel to it (although some may think I am doing that anyways ;) )

Ok, I understand. Good luck. Please post back here if you find something.

IIRC Lashonna wants the PCs to go up against Dragotha. She can always present it as a "lesser of two evils" situation, and that would actually be not too far from the truth. She doesn't have to tell them she's working for Kyuss herself, instead presenting herself as a tragic figure who's looking for redemption.

A Robe of eyes is an obvious magic item. Lashonna may spot immediately the Robe, and send someone else instead to deal with the PCs or warm them up with dealing with Lashonna herself (?). Calling and binding a good outsider for this may be a good idea.

Depending on how much different from a regular elf she is she may resort to mundane disguises or speaking to the PCs from behind a curtain (or in a shadowy garage :p) or using magic: Sending, whispering wind, scry/message combo. Also she may talk to one PC separately and say they are being watched, then convince the non-true seeing PC to accept a Telepathic bond, then use the PC as messenger.

That is a very good idea Hong. I think that will be the option I take, however, I would like other ideas (if not for me but for other DM's with similar conundrums)!
