True20: How does ammo work?

Blackberry

First Post
I'm about to start playing in a True20 SF game.

How does weapon ammunition work? The autofire rules list an amount of ammo per clip, but nothing else does. There's a reload action and magazines available for purchase, but they don't seem to do anything since weapons never run out of ammo.

Which page in the revised edition have I missed?

The problem with concrete ammunition rules is that they are extremely setting specific.

For example, in the 1970's AK assault rilfes generally use a 30 round magazine, while M-16 series rifles used a 20 round magazine. Now, both weapons generally use 30 round magazines, with different capacities (10 to 200) available for both.

Another example, the Colonial Marine pulse rifle from Aliens had a 100 round magazine. However, a lever-action winchester has 12 to 17 rounds in a full magazine.

So, the number of rounds in a gun depends upon the gun being used. Ask your Narrator for details.
Alternatively, you can handwave ammunition. You either have enough or you're running low and need to end the battle right now by a) assaulting to victory, b) running to resupply; that's how most fiction handles it.
Depending upon your table and the tone of your game, one method may be prefereable or both may work simultaneously. But you'll need to talk to the Narrator to find out how he is running things.
