Truncated threads?

It seems like a number of threads have a bunch of posts missing all of a sudden. For example, of the [Spaceship Zero] Q-Ship story hour thread, I can see only the first 13 posts, even though there were several pages (up to 7, I believe) yesterday.

Ditto for the Steam and Steel - A Guide to Fantasy Steamworks thread (was up to 5 pages, now only showing 6 posts), the 3.5 SRD project thread (was 2 pages, now showing 8 posts), and several others.

More weirdness: I just replied to "Wanted some opinions on these village maps", and when it returned I only saw my own post:

I do see the entire thread plus my reply in the first link, in the second I *only* see my own reply.

I've also noticed that there's this large heavy-bordered empty box that has cropped up just below the "Thread Tools / Search this Thread / Display Modes" and before the actual posts in a thread. Don't think that was there before.

So, am I going crazy, or is anyone lese seeing these things too? I'm using Netscape 7.1 right now.

All the threads appear to show up just fine for me, with all their various pages.

Argh! Still doing it... It's getting *really* in the way of reading the boards now. For example, I can't even see my own latest reply on the Awakened Animal thread that I started. Grr...

I may have to restart my browser and see if that helps. I just hate to lose all that state I have built up... I usually have about 30 or more netscape windows tracking different threads and websites on a number of virtual screens...

Before I try to just "make it go away"... should I bother posting some screen shots, or even a copy of the html code I get? Clearly there's a bug somehere, and it might bite us in the bleep later if we don't deal with it...

I see your reply just fine, Conaill. Have you tried logging in from a different computer? That will tell us whether it's a problem that's local or related just to your user name.

from a different computer, that is... everythings seems ok from here so far.


Edit: yup, everything works fine here. Still no explanation for why it doesn't work on my desk machine all of a sudden, but at least it's an indication I may be able to fix the problem by restarting Netscape.

Problem solved... I deleted all enworld cookies, and now things are back to normal.

Comparing my cookie file before and after, here's the enworld.org cookies that did *not* come back after logging back in. I'm guessing one of these was the culprit:

bblastvisit
bbthreadedmode (twice!)

Do these ring any bells?
