trying to find meaning of symbol

ok, I've guessed and guessed. This has become a challenge since he won't tell me. I only get a yes or no answer from him and the answer has so far been no with a quirky smile on his face. Could it be something else? I know I've been searching, and the runes are the only ones that I've found to have that symbol but that can't be it because he said once I know what that is, then I'll have it. Also, he mentioned he wanted to name his daughter this so it can't be "too" odd. I'm sooo lost. And I can't express how much I appreciate everybody's help.:D

This is an old, old game.

It's called "Yanking the Chain".

He'll say "no" no matter what you say. The way to win this game is to stop guessing.

Remember when Prince replaced his name with a weird symbol? The press just started calling him "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince". Start calling him "The Character Formerly Known as Dunstan" and maybe he'll get over himself.

There's also the possibility that it does not mean what he thinks it means.

At least I hope he's not going to name his daughter Tristan. Lancelot, sure, but Tristan?

Maybe he is a bit dim and just saw that goofy "Triple X" movie? Ask him if his character has a tatoo on the back of his neck. :)

Or maybe he is really dumb and thinks it is the roman numeral 30?

Anyway, to solve your problem, YOU decide what it stands for. Then refer to his character that way until he gets so annoyed that he tells you the real meaning.

"So, what's Tristan doing this round?"

"Yea and verily, my Dread Lord. It is I, and my compatriot, Dunstan the Unpronounceable!"

Or similarly, you can start referring to him as "Dunstan the Unmentionable", or "Dunstan Who Cannot Spell In The Common Tongue"...

[Edit: Wait! No! The answer is obvious! He wants you to guess his name? There's only one obvious choice! Rumplestiltskin! Start calling him that and see how long it takes him to give in :)]

Perhaps he means it to mean "Three Days" or "Three Stones" but I'm with the rest who think he's yanking your chain. If I were you, I'd equate it with something that inspires him to fess up and correct you. The movie Dunstan Checks Out comes to mind, which I believe was a vehicle, and poor script choice, for former rising star Jason Alexander (AKA George Costanza from Seinfeld.) Start refering to him as Costanza, but don't tell him why. Sooner or later he will admit to screwing with you, or beg to trade secrets... :)

Oh, I thought of another one. That's the symbol used in engineering drawings for a valve. Maybe the name is "Trivalve."

Yes. Yes. Lord Trivalve of NASCAR. Protector absolyte of all things Daytona.:D

Sorry.
