^^ This ^^ Luke Gygax has been pretty responsible with Gary Con. He has been conforming with all COVID guidelines and the planning for this event started last year. He is taking a gamble that events are going to either improve or at least remain stable. Even with that he has move a big chunk of the Con online and has reduced the in-person count for those willing to attend in real space. You can read their COVID policies on this page: https://garycon.com/policies/ Personally, I am not willing to take the risk as I work in a home office near my 84 year-old mother and while I might escape the worst of COVID, she mostly likely would not (not to mention some immuno-compromised friends). Its all about risk and risk mitigation. Now TSR Con? F' those guys. The mockery is not just because of the size of the building, it is about them trying to sell 399 badges for entry into that building per day. The grift is real. Even if they were open 24 hours the whole convention they could not safely have that many people in such a small space. So, yeah I am a mocker with good reason. There is nothing to defend in NuTSR's BS convention or the space they are attempting to hold it in. It is laughable that 399 people would pay for this low-rent affair that trying to coat-tail off of Gary Con and play on the grievances and fears of a subset of gamers to make a buck (And now I am not laughing).
