TTRPG Setting Books

GothmogIV

Adventurer
Hello friends! I am looking for some TTRPG setting books. I don't need pages and pages dedicated to characters and rules; I am more interested in lore and world information. I have the following, but any others you can suggest will be most appreciated.

And happy Boxing Day to all of our friends in the UK. I don't actually know what one does on Boxing Day, but I hope you are wearing a helmet and don't get hurt too badly.

I have:
--The Codex of Aihrde
--Midgard World Book
--Age of Vikings
--Greyhawk
--Forgotten Realms

If you’re not worried about rules, I wonder if a general coffee table gazetteer for the world of your liking would suit you? Assuming it’s a pre-existing IP of course, likely based on novels or movies.

  • Mythic Britain (plus Logres, Armorica)
  • Mythic Rome
  • Mythic Constantinople
  • Mythic Babylon
  • Midnight
  • Kingdoms Of Kalamar
  • Mystara
  • Primeval Thule
  • Lankhmar
  • Dragonlance (Krynn)
  • Harn
  • Glorantha
  • Rokugan (Legend Of The Five Rings)
  • Exalted (Creation)
  • Middle-earth (Lord Of The Rings)

Doh! I do have a Glorantha book and a lot of LotR stuff. And Lankhmar. I'd tried to find something(s) for Warhammer (fantasy, 40k) but couldn't really.

You already listed 2 of my top 5 (Midgard, Greyhawk), but I'd also recommend the Glorantha Sourcebook. It's the setting for the Runequest TTRPG, but the sourcebook is close to system agnostic. You can of course explore it with the rules tailored to it (Runequest - Roleplaying in Glorantha), but it's also been adapted to 13th Age and I believe a few other TTRPGs. And of course could be adapted to a TTRPG of your choice.

I've been told that what you see in the sourcebook are those parts of Glorantha closest to the setting for the classic video game, King of Dragon Pass. If that's the case, it's a fine place to start. There's also a much more in depth book dedicated to Glorantha, the title of which escapes my memory.
