TTT Collector's Edition DVD

My copy of LotR (the books, not the DVD) refers to the Two Towers as Orthanc and Minas Morgul. That reference makes more sense to me given the action of the two books, and since Barad-dur plays almost no physical part in the story. Perhaps someone with access to an annotated version can clarify what the author originally meant.

Actually, there's a part in the books that states that the Two Towers in reference ARE Barad-dur and Orthanc.

I knew this would happen but I didn't have my copy of LotR with me when I first posted. Could you reference some page numbers?

Now that I have my books in front of me... in the LotR page 479 of FotR at the end...

"The second part is called The Two Towers, since the events recounted in it are dominated by Orthanc, the citadel of Saruman, and the fortress of Minas Morgul that guards the secret entrance to Mordor; "...

The only time we actually see Barad-dur is when Frodo is climbing Mount Doom when he turns East and sees the pinnacles of its' top; and that's on page 244 in the Return of the King.

Seems pretty clear that in the books that the Two Towers are Orthanc and Minas Morgul. Now there are several other towers in the books, the White Tower in Minas Tirith, Cirith Ungol, the Towers of the Teeth at the Morannan, and the light signal towers in Anorien from Minas Tirith to Rohan.

I was really hoping to get another set of bookends with this one, the Two Towers themselves: Orthanc and Barad-dur. This seemed a natural choice to me. I wonder why they didn't do this.

How many do you need? There are after all only two ends to a shelf.

Of course, how many gamers only have one bookshelf?

Sure throw logic back at me.

But what if you just want them to put around the LotR movies, now one set of bookends and a couple of statues work much better in such a case.

I heard that the Gollum figurine you get comes with a pull string and when you pull it, he sings the "in the pool, its nice and cool" song from the movie.

Just kidding. :D

Well I do have two book cases with plenty of shelves but I thought it would just be cool to have minitures of Orthanc and Barad-dur. :)

Whoops, I think I got my quotes mixed up. ;)
I could have sworn that there was a quote that said that Barad-dur was the other tower or maybe I'm just subconsciously making things up. :p

Not that I care, but didn't the contents of discs 3&4 sound an awful lot like the contents on 3&4 from FOTR?

I'd still buy it for the extra 40 minutes, but something sounds like a repeat to me.
