Tumbling while flying?

Tumble = barrel roll, back flip, juke, duck, dive roll, kip up, cartwheel, hand spring, back hand spring, defensive spin, this list could go on forever...

If they wanted you to only do a barrel roll, they would've called the skill Barrel Roll.

I agree, i was just lazy. I didn't mean only a barrel role, instead i mean that their are visual equivalents to tumble while flying. Tumble doesn't state that it only works with land speed.

The description of the Tumble skill states that you can tumble as "part of normal movement".
The FAQ states that you cannot tumble while prone, as that is not "normal movement". All of the examples and modifiers are for the creature's base land speed.

If a creature has a burrow/climb/fly/swim speed, would these be considered "normal movement", allowing it to use the Tumble skill while unencumbered and using one of these modes? If so, what kinds of modifiers other than those listed in the Player's Handbook may apply?

We have talked about it before and I am not sure anyone definitively proved ether angle on it.

What my group ended up doing is that you could tumble while flying but that it would be quit hard to do if you did not have perfect maneuverability as you still have to follow the normal rules for flying.

As to the other types of movement if you have Freedom of Movement on you could tumble in water and if you were an Xorn you could tumble while burrowing. In the end there are good arguments for both sides but the option that is more fun is to let people tumble while flying.
