[sblock=I'm not fire-proof like I thought I was] So two days ago I learned that I don't have fire resistance in RL. I have been away at my sister's wedding, and when we went to one of the many endless, tedious, receptions involving family I decided to pour some tea. The cups provided, tea bags there, caraff of hot water, right? So I put the bag int he cup, pour the water, and BAM the lid of the caraff had not been screwed on right so a whole jug of scalding hot water flows out onto my left hand, scalding it. The waitresses question "are you ok?" My response (through clenched teeth) "no, I just poured hot water on my hand!" So I stomp off and brood outside alone, until I realize that my hand still hurts. I've NEVER been burned, even with fire, boiling water, nothing, until this. Usually it goes away without a mark. This time my whole hand goes red and I feel a blister forming between a couple fingers! I ran inside, cold water, polysporen, the works. But hey, my sister got married to a really great guy! Wooooo! ....Oh, wait a minute everything's falling apart here. Y'see, everyone, this is why my 18 charisma is super important! I get what you lot are saying, but could I make a suggestion? 1) Finnian is just like a barbarian in my RL game: gets the party into trouble by saying the wrong thing. In fact, he riminds me of a non-player I know, but that's beside the point. So many groups have this PC. Stuff like this happens, which is totally unexpected. 2) Hadarai: havn't read his history (emral wouldn't know), but is this a PTSD-related reaction? Interesting! 3) Marco: I say we roll with it. I like the character, and it'd be kinda cool to try to win back his favor. If we screw up, we should get nailed. Robert Jordan wrote that he allowed this all the time in his home campaign (see the intro to the Wheel of Time RPG). If I as the DM screw up I'll fudge; if the players screw up, and you warn us, let us go with it! That said, sorry for the delays. I blame myself for not contributing positively to the situation. Sorry for letting you all down. 4) Comedy: considering the high quality humour of the game, it's hard to come up with stuff to match Kenhood (or the Drivan/Annie/Swillwort love triangle). I think acting like adventurer morons could be our PC fallback to try to keep being funny. I think Vaunea is perfect the way she does this. Hadarai reminds me of an eladrin Alec Baldwin (as Jack on 30 rock) meeting an honorable samurai/straight man/backbone. Drivan as a flirt is solid gold (jealous, player-to-player, for the response there). Finnian is kinda the awkward young guy with no tact; while I get it, I think some of the things he's said have been just "let's put this out there" rather than "I know where I'm going with this interaction"; and I don't know that it's the intent. Give me a minute to eat some food and I'll put Emral into the fray. Ken: I think I have a device that could let us get back on track; Emral having a moment inside his own head. (as a DM I can say): nothing affecting the game or your module; I'll do it in sblock, and delete it if you hate it. Sound ok? [/sblock]
