D&D 3E/3.5 TWF and weapon sizes 3.0 to 3.5

I just want to be sure I understand this.

I have been playing a dual dagger wielding halfling while playing 3.0
Since a Halfling is small, and daggers are tiny, I was able to get the benefit of having a light weapon in my off hand, and getting d4 damage

Switching to 3.5, it seems that for a halfling to get d4 damage, I would be using a halfling (small) Shortsword. (Guess a halfling shortsword is about the same as a human dagger) So, if I want to keep the light off hand benefit, I need to 'switch' to a small dagger, and go to only getting d3 damage.

Were we playing it correctly under 3.0?

Do I understand the changes to move to 3.5?

Thanks

If I understand the weapon size rules in 3.5, your halfling CAN use a short sword in his off-hand, to get 1d4 damage, since short swords are light weapons, if you wield a short shord of appropriate size.

And, yes, you played in correctly in 3.0
