Two quick questions: 1st re: prc, 2nd re: cannon

hello all, haven't been keeping up with gaming for the last year or more. . . i know . . . i'm sorry . . .

#1 -- recently (in the last few months) Wotc put out an FR book (playaz guide), iirc it included a PrC called the "Evereskan Tomb Guardian". what are people's thoughts on it? (i don't know, i've only seen the art on the wotc website) what does the class do? (full bab? ok saves? overpowered abilities? dumb looking veil? what?)

how easy is it to convert to other, non-elf living near a desert guardians of tombs?

# 2 -- who has read that city of shade bru-ha-ha? does this prc have anything to do with that stuff? i read the first book and ok, fine, this big city is now back on the FR map. and they are apparently bad guys. ok. also doesn't evereska get seiged? and basically all the good guys for those elves are dead? . . . this too on the heels of evermeet getting walloped? i'm not trying to open this thread so we can re-hash the elf haters vs. elf lovers posting on the internet about junk. so . . . kinda sucks to be an elf, i guess. what have these 'shade' denizens done? what's the aftermath? i hear they were into terraforming the planet, and flooded, iirc, tiverton. i'm sure the people of cormyr were happy with that. (you know, lost their king, have no economy, now they are victims of eco-genocide...) (i guess when you're down in the fr they give you a few kicks for good measure as well)

can anyone helpe me out? what's the "deal" with both of these things?

thanks,
Amrynn Moonshadow

ps. sorry, couldn't find the 'search' function on these boards, hence me actually posting a thread . . .

The players guide is poorly named...

but I suppose the Bean Counters wouldn't publish a Dungeon Masters Guide to Faerun .

Evereskan Tomb guardian is basically a spellcasting type warrior, who guards the tombs of Everska. It gains bonuses to a bunch of skills while in the Evereska area, and when in an actual tomb they guard they get bonuses to combat, they can track people with bonuses, they get a dodge bonus to the ac, and if they attune themselves to an area, they can get some more bonuses to several skills, while within 100ft of the area they attuned themselves to. They also get a spellcaster level evey level they go up (arcane spellcaster).

It's an interesting PrC, but more of an NPC build, imo. Probably pretty easy to adapt

It's an odd mix of ranger (bloodhound, if you're familiar with Masters of the Wild) and sorcerer with the express purpose of hunting down defilers of elven tombs. Not a good PC concept at all.

It's quite easy, actually. The class actually doesn't seem particularly "elven" in any way to me, and has no relation to anything else previously written in FR about elves.

Haven't read it, but I can't see how the ETG has anything to do with the Return of the Archwizards trilogy.

It is a trilogy by Troy Denning; you do have to expect that it'll completely shake up the Realms and introduce lots of stuff you wish had never happened. Or at least that's how I feel...

The Evereskan Tomb Guardian works better as a NPC prestige class than a PC prestige class, IMO. Being a guardian for dead elves dosen't probably wouldn't make for a very exciting adventuring career.

PC to ETG PC: "So what do you do?"
ETG PC: "I'm the bodyguard of Princess Elthandariel."
PC: "Wait, isn't she... dead?"
ETG PC: "Well, I'm not very good at it."

In regards to the title of this thread, you're not asking about large projectile weapons, so it's "canon" instead of "cannon". Sorry to nitpick, but that error drives me up the wall.
