Two-weapon/Tempest question.

With Oversided Two Handed, Exotic Weapon: Bastard Sword, and all of the other feats required for the Tempest prestige class (complete adventurer), can you weild a bastard sword in each hand? I don't see a rule saying you can't, but it seems kinda munchkinish to me. However, a friend of mine wants to do it in a campaign.

Makes me shake my head to think about it, but I want to be fair. The ass rolled an 18 and stuck it in Str, and we're making level 8 characters. I can see it now.....

1d10+6 main hand, 1d10+4 offhand with 2 attacks a round from each, not counting magical sword bonuses. That's a max of 60 damage heh, then there's the chance of getting a flaming or frost or somesuch.. ugh... just.. ugh... :(

Possible, but consider how much damage a straight barbarian can deal out by that point--easily 1d12+15, and if four of those hit, that's 60 damage from bonuses alone.

I know a munchkin who once wielded two great swords... The DM ended that character quickly.

I have a much beloved Starwars d20 character who dual-wields "Dual-Phase" Lightsabers. They're the ones out of the Expanded Universe... that let ya switch between 5ft reach and 10ft reach as a free-action. :D

Did I mention he is a Hin? (Strongheart Halfling, FR style :P) with Combat Reflexes, and ungodly Dex and levels in Jedi Weapon Master? :P

In D&D terms that'd be light dual-wielding two "light" Greatswords with Flaming, Icy, and Shock...

The thing is, the difference between longsword and bastard sword is 1 point of average damage.

He's spending a feat for 1 point of damage per attack. Compare this to Weapon Specialization, which gives an average of 2 points of damage per attack.

He's also taking OTWF, which again grants an average of 1 point of damage per attack, but also grants an effective +4 to Disarm and Sunder attempts, and allows him to use Power Attack. On top of that, it applies to more than just one weapon.

EWP:BS is a weaker feat than Weapon Specialization. It's a weaker feat than Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting. That extra point of damage is more about style than mechanics, really.
