Twofold Pact Question

-I take the Twofold Pact feat and have Star Pact and Dark Pact. It says that I can use only one at a time. So, if an enemy drops to 0 HP and I use the Fate of the void Pact Boon, will the Darkspiral Aura get +1? Since I don't use the trigger effect that should be possible.

Twofold Pact feat
You gain a second Eldritch Pact. You
gain the at-will spell and pact boon of both pacts.
You can use only one of your pact boon benefits at
a time, however.

The way I interpret it, when you drop an enemy, you choose which pact benefit you get for it. So you could get the Star Pact benefit, giving you +1 to an attack next turn, or you can get the Dark Pact benefit and pump your Darkspiral Aura.

Hmm that's an interesting question.

"Using" a Pact Boon Benefit is vague in this context. To me, "using" the Pact Boon Feature from the Dark Pact would be expending your Darkspiral Aura as an immediate interrupt, not the accumulation of "points" in the aura itself.

It could use with some clarification.

I'd agree with the above except

Are you "using" your Darkspiral Aura by accumulating aura points? "Use" connotes doing something. I'd suggest "use" means employing the Aura power to attack an enemy.

One possible interpretation/house rule/whatever is that if you take the Star Pact benefit, you cannot expend the Darkspiral Aura until the end of your next turn.

Two of the pacts trigger instantaneously, though -- Fey Pact and Infernal Pact. By the wording in the feat, you'd have to choose one or the other when you drop an enemy.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that you'd have to choose one pact benefit for a Fey/Infernal combination, but you could charge/trigger both pacts with one kill for any other combination.

That's why I think charging up a pact benefit should count as "using" it.
