First Post
Just wanted to drop a line and announce that The End RPG will be available next week in Walden and Borders Books. The End hit fantasy stores this week.

We are very pleased with sales results (I'm running out of books!) and the product itself turned out beautifully.

The End is a post-Book of Revelations biblical apocalypse d20 setting. After that mouthful, let me be more specific...

The End allows players to play characters who were left behind after God closed the gates of Heaven and condemned the evil to Hell. The remaining characters are those who were too conflicted to achieve Heaven or descend into the depths of Hell. God has abandoned them to that which they valued most-- the earth! He has stripped them of their mastery over the beasts and turned a deaf ear to their cries. As someone said on another board- think Road Warrior meets the Stand.

See www.tyrannygames.com for some fan fiction and capsule information.

With God's abandonment of the earth, much of man's influence is decaying (or some say evolving), some of the beasts of the apocalypse still walk the earth, the savage gods are returning from their isolation and with them creeps in the old magic.

The End also takes a slightly different look at the d20 experience. First, all players start out as members of the survivor class- The Meek, The Lost Souls. They then can adapt an advance into Rebirth (prestige) classes that reflect a specialized focus in the new world or simply stay a generalist survivor. The End also has a deadly modern firearms system which when coupled with a compacted hit point progresion makes combat especially dangerous (as it should be) and puts the onus on players to role play. Additionally, The End looks at the horror of isolation and loneliness with a new statistic- Ennui. Players must be careful not to let their characters go too long without human contact or the character will become lethargic or go mad. In a world in which the population is now a fraction of 1% of previous amount- this is a real threat.

The End has received great response so far. Our firearms system will be showcased in the July/August issue of Campaign Magazine and we have received rave reviews for our feats and skills treatment of non-magical medicine. If you are aching for d20 Modern, we are ahead of the curve.

As an additional followup, it is in some ways similar to your Daemonforge setting in that focuses on a grim and gritty (but Modern) world centered on surviving colonies and abandoned by God.

daemonforge! That's all you had to say! Now if only we on the pcgen could get a copy to input it into the program..sigh...94 more publishers to go!

Big fan of The End. Have the original. Also a fan of d20. I also have a very limited budget, so I was curious to know, aside from the basic d20 mechanics, what changes are there in the presented material from the original version? If there is a lot of new material that is good, I'd like to buy it, but if the non-mechanic stuff is basically the same, I will wait a while. I'm not particularly interested in a firearm system. Is there more setting detail? More idea on designing adventures? Maybe more on magic and the Savage Gods?

danzig138,

Much of the source material is the same. However, we have added three new colonies (The Brotherhood, Sanctuary, and New Miami), four new organizations(The Fed-UPS, Agents of the Beast, Children of Purgatory, The Black Spike), not one but TWO basic magic systems (Word of God Magic, Savage Gods Shamanism), Details on a number of the supernatural denizens of The End (Locusts, Death Vampires, Soulless, etc), and some other information. We removed the adventure due to space requirements, but you will see it soon!

That sounds pretty cool. Details on the supernatural beasties is good. Word of God magic just sounds righteous. NPI. GUess I'll have to plae it on my Buy Now list instead of my Buy Later list. I just ended my Greyhawk campaign and am looking for something new to run. This would be a nice change, for me at least:D
Is it still as depressing? I mean is the basic tone the same? I would hate for it to be more lite, so more people would be interested. But it sounds pretty good so far.
Oh yeah, any chance you guys might try to pick up the license on Rapture: The Second Coming? I didn't like the system much, but I sure like the setting.
