D&D 5E UA content published in future?

I have a hunch they're going to publish a PHB 2 in the near future. I think every Character Class has at least 2-3 options they didn't before, as well as the entirety of the Mystic. Drop a couple of a new races in there and then dedicate sections to new types of armor, equipment, backgrounds and spells. Perhaps even some new settings to toy with.

The word on the street is that whatever it will be called, PHB 2 is not it - the reason that allegedly kids nowadays don't understand that number notation as it's meant, as a follow-up volume. Instead they interpret it as a version 2.0 of the book in question: that is, something that replaces the "PHB 1".

Myself, I think this is about as likely as the suggestion studio bosses forced a name change of the movie "The Madness of King George III" into just "The Madness of King George" because domestic audiences would have believed it to be the third film in a series, and because they apparently had missed out on the I & II, stayed away from the theaters...

Additionally, several threads have discussed NOT using any UA content when multiclassing. Is this an official recommendation or merely conventional wisdom?

Mike Mearls has said that the playtesting/feedback phase of development in UA comes well before the development/polishing where things like multiclass balance are considered.

I haven't seen anything official about "don't multiclass these", but between them saying they aren't examined for multiclass balance yet and my own observations, I beleive it. My own house rules allow most UA content, but once you take one level you need to get to level 3 before you can take levels of any other class, to stop cherry-picking 1st level goodies.

It is more of a recommendation, with one big caveat. WotC is putting these out to see what people think about them, but they do not care what you think about them in regards to multiclassing. They have said so repeatedly. They have also repeatedly said that the final version of things may be different than the UA release. So for personal use, go for it. As part of a "playtest", it is very much a no-go. The forums complicate things, because there are people who like to brag/proclaim the sky is falling based on multiclassing UA content. Is that personal use or "playtesting?" So if someone says "you can't multiclass UA stuff", what they usually mean (even if they don't know it) is: as far as playtesting goes this isn't really a problem.

Since multiclassing itself is an optional rule, playtest material is written assuming everyone will be playing only single class characters. After they get enough feedback on that, they go back in and tune the material to be compatible with the multiclass rules, then either they will publish that as is or they will put it back out in a new playtest. This is probably the same reason we do not see new feats included with the new subclasses, since feats are optional as well.
