[UA] Weapon Groups & Multiclassing

One of the ideas I liked best from UA was the use of Weapon Group Feats. However, they didn't describe what happens when a character multiclasses. If, for example, a rogue (basic weapons, plus any other two) takes a level in fighter (basic weapons, plus any other four), does she get:

(1) four new weapon groups, as a 1st-level fighter;

(2) two new weapon groups, the difference between rogue and fighter; or

(3) no new weapon group, because she's not a 1st-level character.

I'd vote for (2), but is there an official answer?

Not an official answer, but I'd say that any multiclass character would have the number of weapon groups of the most advantageous class. So a fighter multi to wizard wouldn't get any new weapon groups but the other way around would gain up to the fighter's beginning weapon groups.

That sounds about right: You only get the best ouf of "any x groups". You do get special groops extra, I think (like "druid").

I diagree, sort-of.

The simplest use of these proficiencies described in UA is in addition to the regular class-based proficiencies.

The example given for using Weapon Group Proficiencies instead of basic class proficiencies shows them as pre-defined sets. The table showing Fighters get Basic + any 4 is telling you how to define a custom weapons selection for Fighters by race or organization. It does not, from the flavor text, mean that a PC gets to PICK any 4 at character creation; it does mean that the DM PICKs 4 to define "Fighters from Highmoor".

Fighter of Highmoor: Basic + Heavy Blades + Bows + Axes + Polearms

If the PC decides to play a "Fighter from Highmoor", those are the Weapon Proficiencies s/he starts with. Similarly, a Rogue from "the Black Knives" organization would have a specific set of proficiencies defined.

Rogue of the Black Knives: Basic + Claw Weapons + Light Blades

A multi-classed Rogue from "the Black Knives" who later leared to be a Fighter "from Highmoor" would have Basic + Basic (no benefit) + Claw Weapons + Light Blades + Heavy Blades + Bows + Axes + Polearms.

At least, that is how I read the intention.
