UK GenCon - are you going?

No, it was more expensive and more hassle for vendors this year. I'll be at Dragonmeet instead.
I'll be a gopher at Dragonmeet again this year so maybe I'll help you to put up/take down your stand. What is the name of your enterprise and what do you sell?

Hi,

I went to the one at Olympia -- it was a shame they held it over Easter as lots of people were away but I enjoyed it anyway. Can't understand why every other time they've decide to hold in at Butlins in Bognor or somewhere equally horrendous!

I'll be sharing with Cubicle 7 Entertainment and likely selling...

Bloodsucker: The Angst
100 Fantasy/SF/Horror Adventure Seeds
Autopsy 1 & 2
@ctiv8
2005 Compilation CDs (With demos and freebies from other RPGnow people on it).

Hell no! Could it be any further south?

I'm fully expecting UK GenCon to be held in Calais next year.

Still at least it isn't in a tent this year.
Hmm, 7 hour drive for me. Given the reports on how fantastic it's been over the last few years, I think I'll pass.

Cheers,
Liam

I remember going the last two times it was held at Olympia and the difference in attendance was astronomical. When it was held in August you could almost say it was overcrowded! I bet the vendors had a great time. There was a fantastic atmosphere about the place I remember the train home was 99% Gencon attendees. I remember I couldn't get talking to the artists, Wayne Reynolds in particular because of the crowds. The following year held over Easter I remember chatting with Todd Lockwood for about half an hour and there couldn't have been more than half a dozen people pass by in front of the stalls while I was there with him!

If Peter Adkison is listening. Its simple - stage it at Olympia during August - it will be packed!

Olympia was awful for any community feeling or running games though, unless you were a CCG player.

Hey GRIMJIM! :)

In what way?

I remember having a great time gaming there - especially in the late night gaming slots, great atmosphere.

But still not a patch on Salute which was also held at Olympia but in late April. It's more of a wargames con but has increasingly been attracting RPGamers/vendors.

Last year's Salute was so well attended you literally had to push your way through the crowds in places. This year's had slightly fewer attendees but still many more than at any GenCon at Olympia. ;)

When I went it was up three flights of stairs, hidden away, completely partitioned off, there weren't any boards in the main section for advertising or signing up to games and in many other ways it was decidedly offputting.

With UK GenCon almost upon us, I'm giving this thread a bump.

I'll be there on Saturday from lunchtime onwards.

Anyone else?
