...I just hope you didn't wear that hat!
Hello Morrus, Krusty, ninthcouncil and Plane Sailing!
Dragonmeet was pretty good and, no, I didn't wear
that hat.
I had some gophering duties until lunch time, but managed to get a couple of D20 products and a set of dice free thanks to the nice people at Mongoose.
Unfortunately, there was no Living Greyhawk, so I spent most of the rest of the day working on the design-an-RPG-in-a-day project. The final product, called Incarnate, isn't quite complete, but at its core it's a great RPG. It's 30 (edited) pages long and includes cover art and a full-page Dork Tower strip specially drawn by John Kovalic. The idea is that your PC can have past lives that he (and you as a player) don't know about. The RPG involves not only tackling present-day problems, but also uncovering your past incarnations. In effect, character generation is an integral part of the role-playing experience, not just something you do between game sessions. Incarnate might be published and available at future cons. If it is, the proceeds will go to charity.
I took some time out of the Incarnate project to go to the auction. It raised £1,500 for a charity that entertains very seriously and terminally ill children. Highlights of the auction included the sale of James Wallis's purpose-made T-shirt which had a South Park-like character and the caption: "Oh my God, I killed Hogshead!" and Wallis's stripping off his T-shirt on stage.
The trade area was worth visiting too. I bought some metal D6's and a copy of the LotR edition of Risk. I also stopped at a stand that sold (original?) prints of German fantasy illustrations from the 1850's. Some were smashing but I couldn't afford them.
I got talking to one of the D20 publishers and I've been commissioned to write a short D20 product. Whether I'll have time to do it and whether it ever sees the light of day remains to be seen. Even if it does materialise, it won't be out until next August at the earliest. I'll post more about it if and when it comes to fruition.
All in all, Dragonmeet was good fun, though I would have liked to have played some D&D.
