Unbroken: The DDM Guild Newsletter

It is a cut4e little forum system. Not to many bells and whistles, but better than 90% of the home made ones I have seen. I was just thinking a bit more DDM only focused forums for the Guild. Not all the other CMGs and RPG stuff.

Somewhere for people to interact with the guild about DDM solely.

Also I had no idea a member of the guild created those forums or they were the ones used. I keep getting referred to the WotC forums for things so Tried and Ktatroe can find them, and just don't want to be tethered to WotC forums and such as they are not running the guild.

I will think about using Hordelings if that is the only place or official place. At least it doesn't have bad colors on those forums like the RPGNet ones. :yuck:

Thanks for the info about Hordelings and such.

I appreciate your input, even when I disagree. I won't rule out the possibility entirely, but right now maintaining our own forums isn't anywhere near the top of our priority list. Given the existence of ddmSpoilers, ENWorld, Hordelings, Maxminis, and the WotC forum, we feel that there are plenty of places to discuss Guild stuff. Our website will be a one-stop shop for information, but folks are free to discuss it wherever they'd like.

Your call on whether you support the WotC forum. However, your statment about WotC not supporting skirmishers is something with which I disagree strongly. They've offered us a ton of support. We had planned to make a go of the Guild anyway, and they reached out to us and handed us a Christmas list with everything we could have wanted and more.

I think the plan is to keep Hordelings as the main forums. I'm sure there will be plenty of links linking a user from the DDMGuild website to Hordelings eventually. Considering Hordelings was established by one of the Guild members, and is very well known within the D&DM community, it makes sense to keep them since everyone knows people do not like change.

Now maybe there could be a little bit more help pointing the way of users over to Hordelings from the D&DMGuild website, but overall I think its a good idea to keep the Hordelings name and still utilize those forums that ktatroe has spent countless hours on getting right.

I love Hordelings, and I agree that it's a great place to discuss DDM. Kevin has put a ton of work into it, and it will be around for a long while to come. However, I wouldn't characterize it as the main forum. I post everything on all of the major forums. We've actually seen the most discussion on the WotC forums. As I said above, the Guild website will be a place for information, and discussion will happen on a number of forums.

Ah well you know more than most and the only thing I have read about behind the scenes of the guild was a thread about stealing each others underpants....

Its just the treatment the skirmish game got, that got them to discontinue it in the first place, and the feeling they were blaming players because players didn't jump on board with 2.0 only having about 100 minis to choose from.

Not that I like 2.0, and would prefer 1.0 to be tweaked and fixed, but to invalidate your entire collection in one fail swoop kind of did all the damage to the player-base.

Glad to know I am at least watching all the 5 forums where the guild posts through luck of knowing in advance about them thanks to general mini addiction. ;)

They are supporting in a sense, but the damage was done from them to where I just don't want them in the picture anymore than need be.

I hope Bert gets some time to do those backwards conversions, and can remember which forum is his to look for them. :/

Yeah, I'm not sure what's become of Bert. The Guild has finalized a list of candidates for the 1.0 Design Lead, and we should have a selection to announce within a couple of weeks.

Good to hear. These would be the things I use a guild forum to ask on and just let people there tell me as it is so hard otherwise to tell who is official with the guild and whatnot.

Like ENWorld has its staff badge avatar things.....

I have so many questions and ideas, just don't want them placed on the WotC forums at all. I would rather give them to the guild than share the ideas with WotC. :(

I am also thinking about them magic items for 1.0 while doing something really silly with my DDM, like making a 0.5 version of it that goes back to AD&D type things, but not really tied to an RPG to make the skirmish game something that can stand by its self....

Oh well. gong to go run around in those boots of speed for a while with my Ballista. Darn slow ranged attackers! :p

I can see where you are coming from and I think what you are saying is that from the DDMGuild perspective, there isn't a "main" forum. I think that you, ktatroe, and Tried do a wonderful job of putting out information and getting it to every forums site. If something is done within the Guild, it is written on all of the forums equally.

It might be because I frequent Horelings more than anything else, and that its run by ktatroe, that I see it as the main board. But I'm sure others who are at the other boards may see it differently and that definitely makes sense.

I do know that while yu guys do a wonderful job of spreading information through every avenue, there will eventually be information lost because of questions and topics brought up on individual messageboards. I don't frequent maxminis often, so if a question is asked there and then the Guild members discuss things about it, the main way I'll know is if someone pastes the information over to Hordelings or they create a link saying "Look here at whats being talked about" and then having the link direct me to maxminis.

This is where I think it will be unfortunate to not have a "main" forum if you will. Discussion will be spread among all of them, with information lost in my opinion. I wrongly assumed that users would eventually be directed towards Hordelings from the DDMGuild site as the main place to field questions and discuss on the topics. Of course any site can have people bringing up topics and discussing the Guild and its activities, but in my eyes it always helped to have a sort of "official" place to be pointed to.

It sounds like from JQ that the Guild could possibly feel differently, and thats ok. It might work out better being the way it is now, just wanted to apologize for assuming something worked a certain way without asking you guys. Its nice to have clarification, thanks.

Yeah, it's not out of the realm of possibility that we might have our own forum eventually -- or point to one of the forums as a main. I think we'll always have to deal with the issue of people being spread out. We'll definitely post official news on the Guild website, and maybe we can even have a page that points to discussions happening on different sites.
